My “professional” writing blog has launched. This is kind of the Beta version… still fussing with the design. Follow me if you want… or don’t, but keep it a secret please. I’m very sensitive about this project.
It’s basically all of the odd projects and assignments I take on while I’m freelancing. Yep. Ok, bye.
Christoph Neimann of the New York Times sketched his way through the New York City Marathon last Sunday. Check out the rest of his amazing experience here.
The Zoe Report alternative to a $2900 Mary Katrantzou silk dress… a $126 Asos maxi. I would rock this with some black booties. And a leather coat. Yes.
I’ve been working on our honeymoon album for a few weeks (it seems to be taking me “a few weeks” to do a lot of things lately), but couldn’t resist sharing this pic from our LOST adventure. Brandon and I were so excited for this tour, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. Big thanks to our best buds, Alex and Kiara, for such an awesome wedding gift.
It’s really hard to capture, in any picture, how beautiful Hawaii really is. But I like how this shot reveals how tiny I felt in the middle of that big, island valley. I’m ready to go back… like, today.
Brandon really had something special up his sleeve last weekend. I mean, he always seems to know “what’s happening” in this big city, but this was truly AWESOME. So I just wanted to say a super special “thanks,” babe.
Last Saturday, Brandon and I went to the Music Box Theatre to attend a “super secret showing of a soon-to-be-released MAJOR Hollywood film.” Whoa.
All we knew was that the movie was scheduled to be released next year, and that the “well known” director and 2 special guests (including a star of the film) would be in attendance. Music Box did a crazy job of keeping things quiet. Even inside the theater, there were no clues hinting at what we would be seeing. All of the signs and promos simply read, “SECRET.”
Very exciting stuff.
The excitement continued as our specials guests for the evening made their way onto the stage:
Jason Reitman
Diablo Cody
& Patton Oswalt
Very. Exciting. Indeed.
They were all there to show us a (very) advanced screening of their new film, “Young Adult” starring Charlize Theron. The plot is focused on the return of Charlize’s character to her small, Minnesota town (and she has some, uh, twisted reasons for going back). It’s a dramedy. Now, I don’t want to spoil the movie, but I do want to mention a few things:
1. Charlize Theron is a mind-blowingly-brilliant actress. I know that’s probably an obvious thing to state, but I didn’t even realize it was her for the first 20 minutes of the movie. That was crazy.
2. The movie was good. Not exceptional. But good. Worth seeing in the theater for sure.
3. Diablo Cody is laid back, funny, and completely admirable. Jason Reitman was surprisingly humble and charming. Patton Oswalt was hysterical as always.
4. We got to take home this kick-ass poster as a little souvenir:
